Lights, Camera, Action

A recent trend I have noticed in advertising and visual merchandising is the use of stage lighting, mixed in with an accent of music influences - music boxes, headphones and instruments. There has been this sort of behind the scenes, backstage feel - perhaps with fashion week it was to reflect the build up and anticipation going on before and during the shows. It's a glimpse into the works behind the show.
Miss Selfridge was rocking this look - with a mirror bordered with light bulbs, equipment cases and large speakers.

Guess working the look with the theme of music - its in tune with the current issue of music joining fashion more now than ever.

Bershka again using music equipment as props.

With London Fashion Week last week - this window was giving the public an idea of what goes on behind the scenes of the catwalk shows - notice the use of the large screen and lighting equipment (seen in the Mango ad under 'Hello Kitty' post).

Alot of highstreet stores had their own catwalks to preview A/W 09 collections - these windows make the catwalks in store seem that more realistic to the real ones held at Fashion weeks and makes them more professional.

This whole theme has a glamour feel, from the dressing room feel to the more grunge music gig look - either way its about the connection between performing and fashion. How artists such as Lady Gaga are the new big fashion influencers.
