Shop Watch

I am afraid its only a small update today on shops' latest VM, as my camera ran out of battery on me! However before it died I managed to get a few pictures. Trend thats were apparent were the use of fake grass in windows, seen at Jack Wills and L'Occttaine (the latter of which also had crates and flowers). Also Lush is keeping with the travelling trend, and cardboard trend - by combining the two and using a cardboard suitcase to display products. Finally Diesel's new campaign 'be stupid' uses bright yellow and images of elephants - once again an inventive and innovative display.

Farm Fresh Fashion

Angela Lindvall in Elle US: May 2010 works the denim and farm trend. Backdrops include - haystacks, wooden fences, barns and a lake. These images are beautiful, especially the one of her in black and white with the chicken. Makes me miss my home in the country!

Hay Play

Haystacks have been a popular backdrop for fashionshoots this season, taking inspiration from the farm trend and Chanel's S/S 10 show Eniko Mihalik here in Glamour Hungary: May 2010 works the rural trend.

More images here on the current farming trend, this time from Elle Italy March 2010:

Styling from Urban Outfitters

My latest email update from Urban Outfitters was just in my inbox, and I absolutely love this image in their news letter. The dress the girl is wearing looks just like one I have, and has inspired me to wear it! Annoyingly though I have left it back at home, 300 miles away!! But the black and white image paired with the cut off edges give this image a vintage feel, and it looks as though it belongs in an old photo album. With the sixties hair cut, mini dress and feminine bow it looks classic. Urban Outfitters have done it again.

Shop Watch

Here is the latest from Nottingham's stores VM. Trends that are apparent are: denim, stripes, fresh flowers in stores (seen at Topshop, River Island and Jigsaw), tropical prints and motifs, pineapples at Accessorize, nautical and grafitti.

First up here is Jigsaw: I have already covered this display scheme back in Tunbridge Wells, its a gardening theme with wheelbarrows, green plants, chairs and tea pots.

At Warehouse and Accessorize the displays have an ethnic/tropical feel - I had observed this motif trend in product design, and it was a big catwalk trend, now its in fashion retail displays. I particularly like the amusing and eye-catching flamingos at Accessorize, just adorable!

Stripes - probably the biggest trend of the season, are in Karen Millen's window, making a stylish blue and white display, with a nautical feel.

Graffiti art makes a colourful and vibrant back drop for Topshop's window display. Styling trends include pastel hues, denim, floral headbands and stripes.

River Island have used wood, flowers and shredded cardboard in their window, along with styling trends: florals, denim and pale pinks.

White Stuff are using banners, a trend I spotted last summer, along with dogs - which is part of their current household pet theme.

Finally Reiss here is playing on different trends: animal print, blazors and camel, creating a muted but stylish simple display.

Picturesque Paris

I knew there was something special about Paris when I went there February last year, and since then the city has had a massive influence on design, and has been a big on trend motif still up to this day. From Eiffel towers, hand written letters, poodles, the word 'Paris' - its all been done.

Horsing Around Is Still......Around

Back last August I posted this moodboard and mentioned the horse motif I was starting to notice:

And its good to see the horse motif is still going strong in design, along with the horse shoe. As you can see here from Thomas Paul, Accessorize, Topshop and Urban Outfitters. I personally have been wanting to get my hands on the horse sweater from Topshop for a while!
