London Fashion Week seems to be in the mood for romance – lace, frills and flounces have all been recurring themes so far in the week and continued at Betty Jackson.
An Absolutely Fabulous front row in the shape of Jennifer Saunders, Tracey Emin, Jimmy Choo and Erin O’Connor took their seats to a collection of mixed floral prints (pink on top, turquoise green below on skirts), ruffled Tudor collars, waists enlaced with fluffy graduating frills and peeps of purple lace on hems and necklines.
It was girly, it was feminine and it was nostalgic with underwear references and hessian-style coats suggestive of a make-do-and-mend era. Stockings came in bright green, bright pink, lavender and skirts took on a petticoat appearance.
