Christopher Bailey has been credited with putting the magic back into Burberry since he arrived there in 2001 - from its website to its new London headquarters, it is about as slick a fashion operation as can be.
Even Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham, Emma Watson, Liv Tyler, Mary-Kate Olsen, Dev Patel, Freida Pinto and Agyness Deyn in the front row couldn't outshine the clothes Bailey has come up with this time.
The palest grey, mint, lemon, lilac, pink, silver and gold chiffon was ruched and twisted around the body into minidresses, while waffled leather zip-up coats and fine suede trenches will be reason to take out a second mortgage next summer. Wide elastic straps and zip detailing on sheer jersey dresses gave a modern edge to what was a very romantic collection, the shape of every coat and dress formed by intricate draping of fabrics that were as light as the colours they came in: duchess silk, silk gauze, tulle, cashmere and buttery leather.
Silver lamé leggings and bulging furs added a bit of discotastic energy, while ice cream coloured cocktail dresses were belted in brown leather with Burberry buckles and one noisy silver sequinned dress will surely feature a price tag that only Mrs Beckham will be able to consider.
