I finally got my hands on the highly in-demand dress from ASOS, having been featured in a number of magazines from Vogue to the Sunday Times Style Magazine, I have been hunting it down for months now! But its all ordered and hopefully on its way to me...cannot wait to try it on!

Capes A/W 2010

Mention the word cape, and most people will think of a superhero in mid flight. But capes and cloaks actually have existed, in one variety or another, through much of our known human history. From early Medieval mantles, to 16th century decorative shawls; from military officers capes and 1940s fur stoles, to the fringed ponchos of the 1960s. But since the humble poncho had its hippie revival, the cape in its more sophisticated forms has seen nothing of a major comeback on the streets - that is, until now. The cape is back on the agenda as one of the major 2010 fashion trends.

The trend also includes stoles and wraps, as was seen from Kenzo, Jaeger, Luella and Ralph Lauren.

Sheer A/W 2010

On the return once again is sheer fabric, one of the hottest 2009 and 2010 trends its here to stay.

Velvet A/W 2010

Leather A/W 2010

It's no great secret that the humble leather jacket has become a wide-spread wardrobe staple over the last few Winters. As a fashion trend in 2010, however, women's leather clothing is being taken to a whole new level. You name it and its been made in leather and put on the catwalk, everything from: skirts, trousers, vests, capes and even Hermes did a leather jumpsuit for their aviator look! Keep hold of your leather shorts and skirts from this season, leather is here to stay.

Military Fashion A/W 2010

Ok, I know we haven't even yet finished enjoying this seasons spring/summer trends, but already I am thinking ahead to my autumn/winter wardrobe. And analysing the catwalks from February, I am already excited, especially for the Military trend. I know you are probably saying Military again?! But trust me this time it takes on a new look, think more aviator and army/utility chic.

Key motfis will be:
•Army green is the colour, followed a distant second by navy.
•A great coat / military jacket is the key piece for the Autumn (Fall)/ Winter
•If army green is the trend's colour, then shearling is it's fabric. And that's because of it's dual use as a an embellishment on aviator boots / military fashion boots and a coat's collar.

Marlena Szoka: Marie Claire Italia June 2010

I just came across these images that are in this months Marie Claire Italia, and I think they are stunning. It reminded me of an art project I did on the sea, and I love the contrast of the black against the pale blue and sandy hues. Also the play on texture, from the drift wood and sand of the scenery to the garments which are adorned in feathers, fringing, lace, embriodery and sequins. Beautiful.

Abbey Lee Kershaw

I absolutely love Abbey Lee's dress sense, the colourful, eclectic and bohemian style really works on her. She makes the look so effortless, and simply because I love her style, here are some images:

Playsuits

My personal staple item for the summer is the playsuit, it can easily be dressed down for the day in sandals and tribal jewellery or dressed up for evenings with heels and statement earrings. My new polka dot playsuit has served me well and my Kate Moss pansy playsuit has made its first re-appearance this year.

The way to dress playsuits this season? - Team a patterned playsuit with a thin tan leather belt done up and looped. Add a trilby hat, bangles, flat buckled wedges and a leather satchel. See these images for inspiration:

A Matter of Taste

Some people will tell you that food and fashion do not go together. These people don't include photographer Fulvio Bonavia, whose latest concept shoot takes combining food & fashion to whole new level. In the set of pictures he creates fashionable accessories using various delectable ingredients. So whether you have a preference for blueberry handbag, garlic gumboots or a parmesan purse, the shoot titled "A matter of taste" has something for you. I particularly like the blackberry chanel!! - Not too practical but looks soo pretty, and good enough to eat.

Recent Purchases

Recently I have been spending more than I can afford! But with such fantastic products on offer on the highstreet its hard to resist. Having been attending interviews and offered placements I keep finding myself buying more and more clothes! - Think I keep using them as my excuse for shopping! Well I need to look current with the trends right up to the last minute don't I?! Anyway below are my recent purchases:

This blue polka dot dress is such a perfect fit and ideal for the office in summer, a bargain from Primark (though lets not tell people in the office that!)

I absolutely love this skirt from Topshop, I managed to find it in the sale section of the Oxford street store - quite proud of this achievement! Its body con with a visible zip at the back, again good for interning.

This lace jacket has been so useful whilst we had some warm weather, its so lightweight to carry, can be thrown over a dress and instantly updates your look. At the same time though lace is classic and will last season after season. A great find from Primark once again.

For such a long time I have wanted a cream lace dress and finally I have found the perfect one!! It may not look it but yep its Primark.

To go with all these new clothes I need shoes, firstly the shoe of the season and most probably the next, brogues. And then the essential nude heels, peeptoe as this is the heel design of the season - this shoes are fantastic as they literally go with anything. They can combine with pretty much any colour - they are a wardrobe staple of mine.

I love this playsuit, I am a huge fan of this blue/grey hue as well as timeless polka dot so it was a winning combination for me. Can be worn in the day or dressed up for the evening with heels. A steal from Primark.

Denim shorts are a must have of the season, I found this great pair in Uniqlo.

Finally for my holiday to Ibiza I had to get this swimsuit - garesh bold colours and leopard print? Only in Ibiza can I pull this off! A bargain at half price in the Matalan sale.

Topshop Make-Up

It was only a matter of time before Topshop brought out a beauty range, and what a range! Focussing on bringing us make-up staples as well as the latest trends in eye shadow colours, eye liner, nail polishes, lipsticks and mascaras. I am huge fan of the packaging, so clean, simple and in keeping with the brand's image. I have yet to purchase any of these beauty treats, but I have my eyes on the following:




Topshops next venture?....My bet is on homeware, how good would that be?!

The new Kate Moss range is out as of today!! - and this collection does not disappoint loyal followers like myself. Playing on an ethereal, bohemian and romantic enchanted look, it's luxurious, sophisticated and feminine. Intricate detailings range from lace, beaded embellishment, sequins, feathers and ruffles.
