Cabbages and Roses

The other week I ventured to London town to the Cabbages and Roses flagship store, where I met the founder of the brand (Christina Strutt) and her daughter (Kate). Both were lovely, and the store was quaint, I managed to get a few snaps of their fabrics and window display, see below:

Starting Afresh

My aim this summer as I returned home from uni was to have a fresh start and re-decorate my room. The last time I decorated it was back when I was thirteen, and its safe to say my taste in interiors has vastly developed since then! Being a girly girl and a lover of vintage and traditional English decor, I picked a soft pale pink for the walls. As for the furniture I am currently hunting down a cream chest of drawers - for all my clothes!! I love florals, birds and the whole cath kidston/cabbages and roses aesthetic, so picked a Cath Kidston polka dot bed spread in grey and white, and have piled on various pink patterned cushions. As well I love pictures on the walls so framed some gorgeous patterned papers, from maps, written letters to birds and roses. I have stacks of magazines, my dolls house and I am struggling to accommodate all my shoes!! Anyone know where to get a decent shoe rack?! I am still hunting one of those down. Still to go....I am also looking for more pictures to hang, a new mirror for above my sink and the all important chest of drawers!! See some pics of how I am doing so far:

21st Birthday

A few weeks ago I turned 21, and my family surprised me with a great celebration party, we went for lunch at the gorgeous Newick Park. I am all into traditional English decor, and this place was beautifully decorated, so absolutely loved it, I wish I could live there! See some snaps from the special day below, including the building, the room we had champagne, the lawn where we had tea, my birthday pudding and the gardens.

Julien Macdonald Internship Continued

Sorry its been sooo long since I last updated on my adventures at Julien Macdonald where I am currently interning, you just wouldn't believe how busy I have been lately. The last few weeks I have been looking at their sales figures, determining the best and worst sellers, also creating a fabric folder with samples of all the fabrics being used in the SS11 collection, some beautiful colours and prints await the show! As well I print the photos from the fitting sessions, had a manic time hunting down replacement ink for the printer!! Been researching for Julien and the marketing team, as well as admin duties and working on reception. We had a well known guest come to the office, Bianca Jagger! Can certainly say my excel skills are better than ever, though yesterday I also got to do a little sewing (sewing in labels to wool jumpers!) and ventured with a map round Oxford street.

As of next week I have a little time off from the internship, but I shall try harder once I return to keep you more regularly informed!

Julien Macdonald: Day Four

I was back in the office yesterday, busying myself with research in the morning, whilst in the afternoon I was moving deliveries, organising files and even sewing and preparing a dress to be sent out for a party - sure whoever it was for looked fantastic in it. Just hope my stitches stayed put! Saw Julien again, he had been on GMTV that morning, I had missed it unfortunately, but I made sure to watch Britain's Next Top Model last night to see him.

Yesterdays outfit - my black peg leg trousers from M&S - with a skinny tan belt, my loose grey top from Warehouse, grey pumps and ethnic jewellery. Perfect for the cooler summer day and so comfy.

Julien Macdonald: Day Three

Day three and I spent the morning and some of the afternoon updating their spreadsheets - got the knack of it now so I am getting faster. In the afternoon I helpd out here and there, continued my research and prepared for a party! One of the ladies working there was having her last day, so we threw her a surprise party....though wasn't so surprising as she was expecting it! Complete with M&S treats, a gorgeous cake, gifts, balloons and stripper! They know how to throw a party! - I am just sad I couldn't stay for the whole thing.

Fridays outfit was, a grey loose top from warehouse, teamed with a fitted floral skirt from Topshp, string of pearls, pearl earrings and grey ballet pumps. I want to wear heels again, but there are too many stairs!

Julien Macdonald: Day Two

Day two at Julien Macdonald head quarters and it was very quiet, a few of the girls were out sorting the warehouse, whilst I set up post in the office with another intern. I worked with one of the designers/fitters and organised his very out dated file! And the rest of the day I was thinking about and researching the 'Julien Macdonald woman' - not as easy as it sounds! However I am pleased with my findings and have created my vision of who I believe their model girl/consumer to be. I am just waiting to show them my work.

A delivery arrived today - box upon box of magazines, and the other intern and I had to get them downstairs to the storage room! I could barely lift them, so had to drag them down the stairs, then after having got 3 down there, the receptionist informed us of the lift! haha - great timing!

Outfit for day two - I kept it safe with a simple blue and white polka dot sleeveless dress, for another hot day. Paired with black patent pumps and a matching blue flower for my hair - I felt a bit like Alice! I also used the same bag from day one....I am feeling a bit more daring for my fashion choices next week....
