Christmas Shoppingham
Here's a sneak peek at what the stores of Nottingham are doing for their Christmas windows.
Kitsch - a vintage clothes store. With gorgeous vintage furniture pieces and quirky merchandising this store has a unique feel in-store. The windows are more a winter one than Christmas, with falling leaves, logs and gnomes. I liked the handwriting on the blackboard advertising the boots - an example of a good display on budget.

Zara - I must have photographed this hundreds of times! But I like the coiled wire, its simple at effective.
G-Star - an innovative window, combining the illustration trend with the recent trend of using porclain plates on walls. Making a simple montone window that catches the eye.
Oasis - cut outs as I have mentioned before are being used in VM, you can just about make out in this photo the cut-outs of candle-light lamps.
Vivienne Westwood - the simple use of a tree and baubles sets the christmas theme.

*Star Light Star Bright*
With Christmas approaching all stores now are focusing their displays on this festive holiday. A popular choice it seems is to use stars as a motif, wether they are vinyls on a window or paper stars crafted and hanging amongst the products in the windows; many stores are using them this season.

Construction Trend in Action
Over the summer I said I was spotting what I called the 'construction' trend, this is the use of all things associated with manual labour being used in visual merchandising. From step ladders, mdf to rusty chains and hooks.
Here are some examples of the trend being put to use in shop windows. All Saints was also a great example for this, but sadly I couldn't get any shots of it :( But take a look at these examples from Bench and Kitsch, in Nottingham.

Tokujin Yoshioka
In London, Tokujin Yoshioka, Furniture Designer of the Year in 2007 Wallpaper* Design Awards, has applied his ethereal vision across the new Camper store on London’s Regent Street. Taking an altogether more natural approach, he's decked out the store in his now trademark material petals, finishing the theme off with his Bouqet chairs for Moroso.

Comme des Garcons Trading Museum, Tokyo
Whilst the creative minds at Comme des Garcons have never shied away from pushing the innovation envelope, the latest venture from Ms Kawakubo and her team looks set to raise the bar an extra few inches.
Kicking off the much-imitated pop-up trend with the Comme des Garcons guerrilla stores of 2005, the Tokyo-based house has since developed a whole host of innovative ways to engage. As such, this winter, Comme des Garcons have stepped their groundbreaking retail agenda up another gear, with the ‘Trading Museum’ concept store in Omotesando, Toyko.
Taking the well-trod museum format and artfully combining it with a more established Comme des Garcons retail platform - the Trading Museum is set to offer Comme des Garcons customers a unique opportunity to browse curiosity-lined cabinets amid rails of some of the fashion world’s most covetable items.
Running alongside an edited selection of Comme des Garcons key pieces, items from British designer Christopher Nemeth, shoes from Daita Kimura and made to measure Comme des Garcons shirts - there will also be an exhibition of hand-blown glass objects from Pieke Bergmans; a series of vintage Stephen Jones hats and a selection of vintage Comme des Garcons pieces from the past forty years - to name but a few of the attractions on show.
Hailed as a space in which the art of ‘Just looking’ will be encouraged - the evocatively titled Comme des Garcons Trading Museum looks set to see in a welcome new era of retail engagement.
