London Shop Watch: Lighter than Air

Balloons are a common feature in shop windows currently, proven they are not just for children, they can for adults symbolise nostalgic childhood memories or reaching unimaginable heights. Or are just a colourful and fun distraction! Though Ralph Lauren used them for their kids store, balloons were also at Lanvin in the men's window (which had a whole clown/circus theme going on) and at H&M it was hot air balloons floating in their women's windows.

London Shop Watch: Weather Woes

Weather elements are another vm trend of the moment, as well I have noticed them used in current designs and motifs. Remember Burberry's mens AW11 show and the rain showers? As well see the current Aquascutum window with glass rain droplets, and French Connection have a moving cloud in theirs. Raincoats and outerwear are taking feature in windows with early spring showers falling outside.

London Shop Watch: Home Touches

Another dominant trend on the streets of London is including home furnishings in windows; TVs, retro furniture, rugs, sofas and even doors and stairs are setting the scenes in fashion windows. See examples from Miss Selfridge, Oasis, Mango and Office.

London Shop Watch: Blooming Beautiful Windows

This week I have been back in London and I dedicated a morning to walking along Regent, Carnaby and Oxford street to check out the new spring window; and some strong VM trends are emerging. The biggest being floral inspired, from floral prints, framed flower paintings to artifical flowers - whether they appear to be growing from the mannequins head or the window floor! Just check out these windows, including Stella McCartney, Jigsaw, Mulberry, Topshop, French Connection and Urban Outfitters.

London Shop Watch

It's an exciting time in retail with the Spring collections hitting the stores! I have been in london the past couple days and had to hit Regent street to check out the windows! It seems the biggest trend is brights, paired with muted neutral hues. Along with this other trends included the seventies and nostalgic prints, coral hues - including coral/red wigs at Chanel, and even rollercoasters at Louis Vuitton!
