Julien Macdonald: Day One

Sorry for the lack of posts in the past three weeks, I have been busy and enjoyed a week away in Ibiza - though I came away from this holiday more worn out and exhausted! haha. Anyway yesterday I had my first day on placement with Julien Macdonald. The offices set just off Regent Street, it was a hot hot day and I was sprinting in heels to make it to the office on time. Thanks to my dad driving at glacial pace I missed my train, thankfully I was only 5 minutes late, and it seemed not a problem at all. I just wanted to make a good impression, certainly think I made one entering the building huffing and puffing, and with my river island print dress, bare legs and navy ankle boots (which killed my feet!).

I met the other interns who all seem lovely, we seem to each have different skills which should be handy. I have been paired with the gentleman most responsible for the marketing, however it seems get a chance to do a bit of everything, even sewing if I wish!! - Told them this probably wasn't wise. Yesterday I went through the design catalogue - obviously I am to say nothing about the designs, but they were beautiful. I also even met the man himself! - Julien was lovely and friendly - he's a pleasure to work for. But thats just round one - I am there until the show at LFW in September - keep watching for the next installment.

As well I have decided to document my outfits I wear each day on placement - starting wth this River Island number. Accessorised with a RI bag, blue ankle boots, black belt, and Primark flower ring and pearl earrings.

Nu Native

Back last summer...August I think I predicted the trend which I called Nu Native. Taking influences from tribal people - motifs included: feathers, leather cut out details, colourful beads, aztec prints. Essentially natural materials are used to create a vibrant ethnic look; and celebrities that are showing us how its done are Kesha and Kelis, in their latest music videos.

London Shop Watch

Of course while I was in London last week I had a look around oxford and carnaby street to check out the exciting visual merchanidisng, and to see what was on the high street. Big trends seem to be feather head pieces, animals and animal print, florals, plants, polka dot, nudes and birds.

Elephant Parade

I was back in London last week and managed to spot some more of the elephant parade collection along oxford street.

Kaya Scodelario: Instyle UK July 2010

Skins star Kaya Scodelario shows how to dress the underwear as outerwear trend. Playing as well on other key seasonal trends - nudes, peep toe shoes, shoes teamed with socks, ruffles and stockings. She looks stunning, and I am loving the cardi and ruffle underwear combination.
